|Life Skills|A1 Level|UK Spouse Visa Requirement Test|

At what level is IELTS Life Skills? IELTS Life Skills is available at A1, A2 and B1 levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). This is an international standard used around the world to describe learners’ language skills.


Couple of years ago TOEIC and ESOL tests were also accepted at UK-Visa-immigration for Spouse visa applications. Applicants were also taking GT IELTS with 4:0 bands in all 4 modules to apply for UK spouse visa. However, in latter years British Council Introduced Life Skills and it has Levels as A1 A2 B1 B2. Why an applicant of UK Spouse Visa needs to take L-S A1-Level test?


An applicant applying to live in UK needs to clear Life Skills A1 Level in order to prove his or her ability to communicate at a very basic level in UK as in-case of emergency they won’t face any issues. This test is currently conducted by the British Council and AEO called UKVI Life Skills A1 Level. It contains only Speaking and Listening parts, it is for 18 to 20 minutes only.


An applicant needs to practice Listening and Speaking to clear the test. Usually it happens with two candidates who would lead by an examiner. It has NO complicated ranking system or criteria, simply either Pass/Fail.


How Difficult is Life Skills Test? Where to Book? How to prepare? How long it is valid?


Life Skills is not at all a difficult test, it’s a very simple test. Anyone with basic English language skills may clear with a week or 2 classes/preparation. However, the issue only exists if the candidate who, doesn’t know the English language at all or know very little. In this case he/she has to first learn English language and then learn the pattern and practice in prior.

You may attempt only if you failed in the previous attempt or if it’s expired.
